Atlanta Track Club

About:
Founded in 1964, the Atlanta Track Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and fitness, through programs of amateur road racing, cross-country, and track & field, in the spirit of fun and competition. The ATC holds several low-key events throughout the year, but also puts on the famous Peachtree Road Race and the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon.

Black Girls RUN!

About:
Black girls run? Of course we do. In 2009, Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks created Black Girls RUN! in an effort to tackle the growing obesity epidemic in the African-American community and provide encouragement and resources to both new and veteran runners. The mission of Black Girls RUN! is to encourage African-American women to make fitness and healthy living a priority. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 80% of African-American women are overweight. BGR! wants to create a movement to lower that percentage and subsequently, lower the number of women with chronic diseases associated with an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle.

Atlanta Marathon Club

About:
The goal of the Atlanta Marathon Club is to help train and prepare those who want to run a 26 mile 385 yard race and to celebrate those who have. We conduct “Spring Training” from January through March to target half marathons. From July through November we conduct “Fall Training” and target the fall marathons. Both sessions are targeted towards the intermediate level runner and are not intended for beginners.

Back on My Feet

About:
Back on My Feet is a nonprofit organization that uses running as a means to promote self-sufficiency among people experiencing homelessness. Our groups run Mon, Wed and Fri mornings at three downtown Atlanta homeless shelters – the Gateway Center, Salvation Army and Trinity House. We seek volunteers from the community who love to run and are interested in running for a cause – to empower individuals seeking a second chance, looking to improve their lives and circumstances. We seek to not only create healthy habits among a struggling population; we also seek to challenge perceptions of homelessness and break down the barriers that exist between the housed and the homeless. Carpet Capital Running Club

About: The Dalton Track Club was formed in 1982. The name was soon changed to the Carpet Capital Running Club (CCRC) and the club grew to include recreational as well as competitive runners. The club organizes several running events as well as events to support the community. Currently the club has 93 single and family memberships. This includes 40 family spouse members to bring the clubs total adult membership to 133.

Founded in 2003 and have a membership of about 40 with a wide range of ages and abilities. We host 3 races annually, Halloween Moonlight Run 5K, Blake Gammill 5K, and SweetH20 50K & Half Marathon. Our goal is to make Douglas County the healthiest county in Ga through running. We meet Tues and Thurs evenings and Sat mornings for group runs, some roads but tend to like trails best. About:
Gotta Run Kids is a youth running club (3rd - 8th grade) committed to inspiring children to unlock their potential and achieve personal goals through the discipline of running.  We are in our 4th year and have seen hundreds of children through our program during this period.  We serve the Cumming area primarily, but there are no restrictions on who can join us.  Parents are welcome to run with their kids.  The competitive division of our club is called Great Strides and we compete in XC meets during the Fall.

The Striders became a certified running club in March 1990 with 12 charter members. The Striders biggest event is the annual 5K For Hope Road Race held the fourth Saturday of August. The proceeds from this road race are used to benefit Our House, a child care facility for homeless children. The Striders host a fellowship run in South DeKalb with the South Fulton Running Partners in the spring of each year and are invited by the Running Partners to a South Fulton location in the fall.

About:
The Totally Running - Towne Lake meet Tuesday & Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m. Meet at store on Towne Lake Pkwy.

Dewar Elementary Running Club

About:
Dewar Elementary's Running Club has been in existence for years. The goal of our running club is help spark an interest in running among elementary aged children. Hopefully, it will become a life-long activity for our students. The club meets once a week at school. We have an average of 60 students who participate each week. For students who wish to further develop their running skills, we meet 4 additional times a week outside of school. During those sessions, we work on trail running, speed, and distance. Members are encouraged to participate in local 5-k races throughout the year. As a culminating activity, we hold our own 5-k race at the end of the school year.

The West Georgia Track Club (WGTC) is a group of people passionate about building a community through fitness. We are dedicated to motivating and engaging runners of all ages and abilities within the greater West Georgia area. WGTC is a non-profit group incorporated into the laws of the state of Georgia and is based in Carrollton, Georgia. We are teachers, nurses, students, parents and kids, all passionate about fitness and are all passionate about building and strengthening relationships within the community.

Group runs are for all abilities of joggers and runners. A weekday run will occur every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the University of West Georgia track. Well lit parking is available in front of the track. A weekend group run will be held every Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. at the Hobbs Farm Greenbelt traihead off of Rome St. Runs are held rain or shine, unless it is a holiday. Distance and pace vary on attendee interest. Jogging stroller families are welcome.
