News and Happenings

Lifetime Fitness buys US Road Sports

Lifetime Fitness recently bought US Road Sports which owns the Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon that is scheduled for March 23. US Road Sports also put on the Atlanta 13.1 that is held in October for the past several years. The purchase also included events such as the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, Palm Beach Marathon, New Jersey Marathon, and more.

Lifetime Sports division holds events all across the United States.

A spokesperson with Lifetime  said "yes, the Publix Georgia marathon will continue on after this year and yes we are conducting the Atlanta 13.1 this year and beyond."  They did say they are working on a date and new race course for the 13.1.  They are also hosting the Athleta Esprit De She 5K and 10K, along with the Commitment Day 5K.

Lifetime also said they were "are in the process of opening a complete event production office in Atlanta to help support the continued growth of these events and we hope to add more events in the coming years."

It is good news that Lifetime plans to keep the Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon going. The race is becoming more and more of tradition for local and regional runners.
