The First Annual "Dash For Dr. George" is in honor of Dr. George L. Harkins of Douglasville, GA and Gene Barnes of Marietta, GA. Both were victims of Esophageal Cancer, currently the fastest growing cancer in the US. It is also the 7th deadliest cancer in the world. Early detection of the disease is very important. "Dash For Dr. George" is a fundraiser for the Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation (ECEF). With your support, we hope to raise funds to help ECEF accomplish their mission. The ECEF goals are to bring awareness and educate the public about this terrible disease, to help patients who have the disease, and to financially support research projects that focus on EC. April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month.

Entry Fees
5K - $25 by April 9, $30 after April 9 and race day
1 Mile - $15 by April 9, $20 after April 9 and race day
Phantom Runner - $20 (guaranteed tshirt if registered by April 9 - mailed after event)
Tshirts guaranteed to all preregistered 5K participants, tshirts for late 5K registrants only available while supplies last

Awards and Extras
Medals will be presented to the 5K Overall Male & Female, Masters Male & Female, and Top 3 in Age Groups----10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.
Ribbons will be presented to the Fun Run participants after their race.
Awesome Raffle Prizes at Post-Race Drawing---Drawings will be held immediately after awards ceremony

Free parking inside the park in designated areas.
"Dash For Dr. George" will take place at beautiful and scenic Clinton Nature Preserve in Villa Rica, Georgia (located in Douglas County). Both running events will be on a combination of grass, roads, dirt trails with packed dirt, gravel, and some rocks. The trails are suitable for all ages and abilities, and walkers are welcome, too.
